Mini-grants for Teachers
HOME

2007-2008 Mini-grant Evaluation Form, due May 16, 2008 for traditional schools or July 2, 2008 for year-round schools.

2008-2009 Mini-grant For Teachers application will be available online on September 12, 2008. Applications, accepted online only, are due October 23, 2008.

All full-time district teachers are eligible to apply to the Foundation for a mini-grant to fund a specific project.  Grants are awarded based on creativity and innovation, must enrich standard curriculum, and directly benefit students in the classroom.

Some recent projects included an expanded classroom library to improve the quality of the reading program; a computer microscope to view specimens more minutely to enhance existing research materials; and a skeletal model with video and charts that exhibit the effects of smoking, drugs and alcohol on the human body.

Mini-grants range from $500 to $750, depending on funds available each year. Once a teacher receives a mini-grant, he or she must skip one school year before applying for another mini-grant. Mini-grant application forms are due by the last Friday in October.

"Our teachers...recently were selected to receive mini-grants for books and reading manipulatives. This money will help our students continue to improve their reading levels. Guided reading books are an integral part of our Balanced Literacy approach to reading. Thank you for your support of our teachers and students at Quail Hollow Elementary." Jan Tanner, Principal
